The Sentry, a bronze by Clarence P. Cameron
The Sentry

The Sentry is derived from a maquette that I carved in soapstone, then sold as a limited edition in bronze, called First Hatching, in the late 1990s. The Sentry is 11-3/4" high, 9" wide, at its widest point, and 5" deep. The owl is ready to mount, with bolts, on whatever you wish. It is a limited edition of only 10.

Moonstruck, a dendritic soapstone owl by Clarence P. Cameron of Madison, WisconsinMoonstruck
Photography by Larry Sanders

Moonstruck, literally, just popped out of the stone. The dendrites are well-defined, and the owl is carved all the way around. Moonstruck was in the 2017 Birds in Art exhibition at the Woodson Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin, and the Society of Animal Artists' Art and the Animal exhibition at the Briscoe Western Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas, in 2019-2020, as well as other exhibitions..

The owl is 9.5" high, 7.5" wide and 7" deep. It sits on a slab of Vermont slate, which is 2" high and 8" square. (This is one of the last, large pieces of dendritic soapstone available to me. Large pieces are extremely rare.)

The Society of Animal Artists

In 2013, I was honored to be elected as a Signature Member of the prestigious Society of Animal Artists. The Society of Animal Artists (SAA), founded in 1960, "is devoted to promoting excellence in the artistic portrayal of the creatures sharing our planet, and to the education of the public through art exhibitions, informative seminars, lectures and teaching demonstrations.  The SAA’s membership, past and present, represents a veritable who’s who of artists from around the world."
